We understand that that you may want to keep up with the trends, fashion, fads, and/or what their favorite celebrity might be up to. We totally get that and will provide, however, our primary focus is and always will be the betterment of our communities. Our goals are to make available and deliver to the reader the tools that you will need to become successful entrepreneurs, to re-educate our communities, and to help you see clearly the obstacles that you may be up against.

This is our mission.

Reading Is Fundamental…   …read.

The term empowerment refers to measures designed to increase the degree of autonomy and self-determination in people and in communities in order to enable them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-determined way, acting on their own authority. Empowerment as action refers both to the process of self-empowerment and to professional support of people, which enables them to overcome their sense of powerlessness and lack of influence and to recognize and eventually to use their resources and chances.

In social work, empowerment forms a practical approach of resource-oriented intervention. In the field of citizenship education and democratic education, empowerment is seen as a tool to increase the responsibility of the citizen. Empowerment is a key concept in the discourse on promoting civic engagement. Empowerment as a concept, which is characterized by a move away from a deficit-oriented towards a more strength-oriented perception, can increasingly be found in management concepts, as well as in the areas of continuing education and self-help.

Keeping it real and @ Real Thick Magazine

“Design” is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works. RTM is being designed to bring forth materials and news that will escalate our communities in a way that is fun, relatable, and sustainable. Most magazines (our peers) will choose to play the safe game and dumb down their content, so as not to upset the mainstream. It’s like they have a sick need to conform to a structure that has a primary purpose and reason to keep our intelligence at bay.

That dumbing down part will not be happening at RTM. We plan on giving it to you raw every chance we get, no protection. We need you to know, understand, and feel this goodness. So,RTM if you’re in here flipping through pages and reading stuff, you may mess around and get impregnated with some education …oops. We apologize…

…and, We hope that it is as good for you getting it as it is for us giving it. Don’t worry, we will not stop until you are satisfied. We don’t mean to sound inappropriate or anything like that. However, we do need to understand and know that there is going to be nothing but realness jumpin’ off on this channel.

For one thing, they (the older ones) think you are stupid. When they see this magazine (RTM) they say I should “dumb it down some, young people don’t read anymore, all they do is take in bites of information and pictures.”. I CANNOT believe that. For one thing, I never told ANYONE that this magazine was being designed exclusively for young people (Millennials and /or Gen Z). WHAT! Because it’s colorful, somewhat racy, has some rap going on. What! – No, RTM is for anyone who wants to get their information on the top page instead of having to dig through 10 pages of bullcrap in order to reach the meat.  FYI: Unless our Research Staff, writers, editors, and /or fact-checkers have compiled the information from various other sources to put together a “clean-article” which would then make RTM the source, we will give the reader a link back to the source of our information.  In other words, if RTM did not do the interview or we are not on the scene when it happens we will let you know where we got our information from.

Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.

Just because we having us some fun up in here does not mean that we cannot put some knowledge up under our belts.

It would be very remiss of me to finish this introduction and not mention that in age I am what would fall under the “older ones”. However, my heart is young, and I roll with youngsters on a regular basis. Young people are the source of my energy and they are also the primary reason why RTM came into existence in the first place. The design, the information, and how that information is disseminated (served). Even though this magazine will stay on the edge and remain somewhat racy, our goals are clear.

Our Agenda

First and foremost is to break down that barrier of mistrust in our community (ethnic group). This, my brothers and sisters, is not as difficult as we sometimes make it out to seem. It’s all about presentation. The other ethnic groups send their merchants down to our communities regularly. We buy from their shops – food, clothing, cosmetics, hair, and other services they bring, while all along bypassing (stepping over) our at home community merchants. At 1800 hours (6 pm) those others lock up their shops “tight” and go home. The problem with this is, they have come down from the hill like vampires sucking the resources out of our communities and not putting a drop of anything back in. There is nothing wrong with that. It’s just a vampire doing what a vampire is supposed to do. However, this is is a problem, and my brothers and sisters, a very serious issue.

Steps toward  rectifying this issue:

It goes without saying that as a community we have a hard time putting faith in our neighbors, the people that we truly are.  I kind of understand it and even why it is like that. It seems [to me] that we have been the victim of our neighbors for so long and for so often that we have become raw, sensitive, and afraid to interact with them in a way that is positive or share things that are good, in fear that if we interact or share we may be taken advantage of. Because of this, good information, and true assistance is not reaching enough of community members fast enough.

RTM is all about the betterment of our communities. Here are some steps that need to be put into effect:

  1. Weed out the celebrities, professional athletes, and others who are in a position of power and/or influence that are truly vampires and identify the ones that are not.
  2. Seek out community members whose thoughts are in line with the empowerment of our communities.
  3. Gain trust in the community members and the members know that this is not a game.
  4. Have faith in Your Greater Power.
  5. Know that, just as we are alive and striving to move forward, you better believe that Satan’s minions are in motion too.

The problem with some of the other ethnic magazines is that when they print or post they tend to run us around in circles, and feed us commercial garbage, thereby, neglecting our communities the nourishment that is needed. When they publish like this they are stifling the potential and growth of the community as a whole.

THE ESSENCE OF OUR SIGNIFICANCE

A force to be reckoned with. Yes, as a people we are exactly that; a force to be reckoned with. However, we must realize and understand as a young power the responsibilities that may lay ahead. It is not our goal nor our intention to isolate or segregate. The objective here at RTM is to make available to you the tools and information that will enable you to make strategic and intelligent decisions, that will level the playing field.

The nourishment that you will receive here at RTM will aid you in realizing…
… The Essence of Your Significance

Driven By Necessity

Naysayers are like, “what makes your platform different from the others” or they say, “I can’t see it clearly, please explain” or they ask “if it’s not about your company making money what is it about. You are a business right?” When we tell them that the primary goal of this magazine is the betterment of our communities they ask, “how?”, and when we say this magazine is about empowerment, they ask, “empower who and for what?”

– First, what sets RTM apart from the others is our content. Our primary focus will be to bring to our members and/or subscribers pertinent information and the tools that they will need in order to be successful in whatever endeavors they chose to pursue. Our forums will headline topics that reflect the needs of our communities, topics that we believe will bring forth solutions from members who have had real-life experience in the subject matter.

We will not cater to mainstream corporations, nor will we accept their ads. You WILL NOT SEE those annoying little blue triangles on our pages. You know the little blue triangles that carry the advertisements and follow you all over the Internet. NOT here. The only ads you will see are Automobile ads, ads from members who have a product that they have created or branded, and products that we have handpicked because we believe the product will present our members with a savings and/or make better entrepreneurs.

— This is what sets RTM apart from the others. Sure there will be fashion, glamour, some celebrity news sprinkled in, and the rest of the shiny stuff. However, our primary focus will always be on our members’ joy**. Period.

– Second, it’s not about the money, however, we do realize profit is a byproduct of hard work. No one at this company will ever tell you that we are in the business of being insolvent. On the contrary. Our goal is to generate large amounts of capital so that we may invest in projects that will enable us, our communities, and members to move forward in a volatile manner.

— No, it’s not all about the money. It’s more about generating power, strength, and confidence!
